ORANGE BOWL

The Orange Bowl takes place on different sites. One of them, the -14 girls category, is called Biltmore. It takes place on the grounds of a magnificent hotel, one of the most beautiful that I have ever seen, that also includes an 18-hole golf course.

The training sessions with Julia VAKULENKO are in full swing. She works well and hard without talking and with a level of extreme concentration. She sometimes plays against Anne-Christine. As for Fred, he continues to provide daily muscle warm-ups and physical training. The training sessions take place in a collaborative atmosphere. I passe on his insight to the coaches and train with each one.

Fiona GERVAIS also joins us, accompanied by her father Patrick. Her late arrival is due to an ankle injury that sidelined her and delayed her preparation. On the training court with Julia  Fred and Maria ANDREAS CARDENAS

  Lois BAUDY et Alexandre

Jean-Philippe BERNARD, one of the two managers from the Academy along with Aymeric FERRIER, also joins us. My wife, Clarisse, and my children are also present.

-14 category : Loïs is eliminated in the first round. Renzo easily qualifies and advances three rounds in the draw before losing to an Israeli player who was able to destabilize him by cheating tremendously. The players are now starting to learn from experience...

As for Sebastian, he has a difficult draw: He plays against the tournament leader of series 2 as of the first round. At the end of a magnificent match, Seb wins 7/6 6/2. The match was interrupted during the first set at 6/6 in the tiebreak due to rain and resumed only the following day. Unfortunately, Seb was unable to take advantage of the draw, which was nonetheless open. He loses in the third round during a match in which he was unable to let himself go at any moment.

Sol loses in the first round draw after having qualified. She gave a good fight but is not ready at the moment to dominate in a tournament of this level.

Renzo OLIVO Sebastien LAVIE    Sol ESKENAZI

-12 category : Fiona GERVAIS is eliminated in the last qualification round but is a good sport. She loses in the second round draw. Maria-Andrea loses in the first round against a stronger player: Léolia JEANJEAN, following a quality match lost 6/1 6/4.

Summary:

It was a great experience for us. We lived as a group, have the same memories and the players have become conscious of the necessary qualities required to win in a tournament of this caliber. It was very interesting for me. I was able to see how coaches work during tournaments. We talked, exchanged ideas. I was able to see for myself and judge where each one was and the work that still needed to be done.
