EDDIE HERR
Eddie Herr is a tournament played in all categories: -12, -14, -16, -18 year olds. It takes place in the city of Bradenton, about 400km from Miami.
I arrive the day of the first round and sense a tense mood. We all live together in a big house.
There are many of us: in the -12 category, Maria Andrea CARDENAS, the young Venezuelan; in the -14 category, Loïs BAUDY, 13 year old from France; Sol ESKENAZI, an Argentinean also born in 1993; Sebastian LAVIE, from New Zealand, and Sam BARRY, from Ireland. Irena PAVLOVIC is also present. She came to train with me on the premises and does not participate in any event. In the coaches corner, Alex LISIECKI, Vince MELLINO, Ronan TANGUY, and the physical trainer, Frédéric LEFEBVRE. And finally, Jérôme and François, two members of the television series “Decisive Game”, which tells the story of young players, also live in the house with us. | ![]() |

Same goes for Maria Andrea in the first round draw where she was nevertheless considered the favorite. Sam meets the same fate at the outset of the first round draw. The only two players who stepped out of the pack were Loïs who loses in three sets only in third round qualifications, and Sebastian who loses in the second round against the future finalist, Kacharyan of Russia, but showed some interesting things.

The mood relaxes once the tournament ends. With the intense workday over, the players go to the movies or watch television (Desperate Housewives). I prepare each players favorite dish for dinner. Apparently it made a good impression.
