Mauritius
December 13, 2007. Charles de Gaulle airport. It is 39°F outside. We are off to Mauritius to finish the pre-tournament training in preparation for the outdoor competitions ahead: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Cindy Chala will participate in the Australian Open, and Irena Pavlovic, Ksenia Milevskaya, and Mandy Minella will participate in a $25,000 and $50,000 tournament in the United States.

How is Irena progressiong?
 | It is April 10, 2007. Irena Pavlovic, 18 years old and 330-seeded, is going through a difficult period in her career. She suffered two severe ankle sprains. The first injury occurred in December 2006 while she was participating in a tournament in Dubai. Conclusion: a month off followed by a month's rehabilitation to get her back on track.She goes back on tour mid-February, reaches the quarterfinals of a $25,000 in Stockholm (see previous blog), and the final of a $10,000 in Portugal. During the American tour that followed early March, she suffers a sprain to the second ankle in the first round of the first tournament. The recovery and training period would be shorter this time for she is ready to compete again mid-April. Her main goal: The French Open at the end of May. |

It is January. The new season is finally getting underway! It is important to get back to competing after such a long dry spell.

EDDIE HERR
Eddie Herr is a tournament played in all categories: -12, -14, -16, -18 year olds. It takes place in the city of Bradenton, about 400km from Miami.
I arrive the day of the first round and sense a tense mood. We all live together in a big house.

PRINCE CUP
Back in Miami, or more specifically Miami airport, where the Prince Cup takes place. It is unnecessary to point out that the location is ideal for a tennis tournament: on the right, the airport and the constant takeoff of planes every 10 minutes, and on the left, a highway and the continuous flow of cars. Excellent conditions to learn how to concentrate.

ORANGE BOWL
 | The Orange Bowl takes place on different sites. One of them, the -14 girls category, is called Biltmore. It takes place on the grounds of a magnificent hotel, one of the most beautiful that I have ever seen, that also includes an 18-hole golf course. |
